Child maltreatment underreported in Medicaid claims, study finds
Ramesh Raghavan, PhD, an associate professor at the Brown School and of psychiatry  at the School of Medicine, as well as a faculty affiliate at the Center for Violence and Injury Prevention, has completed a study in which he found that Medicaid claims are a poor way in identifying child abuse and neglect at a population level. He argues that in order for researchers to see the whole picture they should include data from child welfare or other administrative data sets to better capture the prevalence of abuse or neglect at a population level.
