Translational approaches to child neglect research
In September of 2010 Washington University hosted the 4th annual Translational Child Neglect conference which includes a sponsored trainee component funding young scholars to be able to attend and receive mentoring from neglect consortium senior researchers. The conference addressed the need for integrating and coordination services for maltreating families, as this is critical component of effective intervention. Over 40 experts gathered and discussed issues such as translating research into effective practice, the impact of chronic neglect and service use on the long-term outcomes of children, and neglect prevention techniques.
