CVIP Partner Recognized as Model Program Local and Nationally, Replication for East St. Louis

The Center for Violence and Injury Prevention (CVIP)
partner agency the SPOT has been recognized as a model program by local and national public health agencies. Operating through Washington University, the SPOT is an innovative community-based free adolescent health clinic providing a range of youth development as well as health services for some of the most vulnerable youth in the region, including homeless youth and youth in foster care. Dr. Katie Plax, SPOT clinical director, is both a member of the CVIP agency advisory board and a CVIP faculty affiliate with three current active projects with CVIP faculty and PhD affiliates. The SPOT also serves as a practicum site for certificate track students. Federal grant funding will be used to open a replicated program site in East St. Louis, dubbed Kaleidoscope, in 2014.
