Child maltreatment, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, suicide attempts and youth violence are multi-determined, pose immediate and long-term impacts, and are interrelated. The research on prevention requires interdisciplinary work.
The CVIP draws together and provides communication structures and research support to scientists from several academic departments and research and policy institutes at Washington University, St. Louis University, University of Missouri in Columbia and St Louis, as well as universities in California, Illinois, Maryland, New York and South Carolina.
To promote engagement of researchers from across these institutions, we convene topical research groups, sponsor lectures and hold local brown bag discussions. Our goal is to incubate new ideas and assist our affiliates in developing new research projects aimed at prevention and effective intervention related to center foci.
We are committed to community-based applied research and most of our projects involve direct partnership with a regional agency. Affiliated projects can be found by clicking on the links to the right.
