Moving Parent Training

While many evidence-based parenting interventions now exist, there have been no efforts to integrate
these programs into the usual care child welfare system so that different stakeholders such as parents, substitute parents and caseworkers can function together to amplify and maintain child behavior gains. This work will inform the development of a child welfare case management intervention designed to help them be involved partners in parent training to reduce externalizing behavior, prevent violence, and mitigate the effects of maltreatment.

AIMS

To explore:

how child welfare case managers currently interact with parents and caregivers around issues of behavior management
the response and receptivity to parent training concepts and strategies among child welfare case managers.
